Between 1999 and 2002, the SDTF experienced tremendous growth. During this time, the membership base more than doubled from approximately 100 to over 220 member. With this growth spurt, the SDTF experienced unprecedented participation in its club events.
In 2002, CAL Cup was planning its 17th annual competition with its sister clubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles. As more and more new members learned of the CAL Cup format, they asked that a similar event be created for addressing the players at the mid-level "B" division.
André Lalias, the 2002 SDTF President, worked with representatives from our sister clubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Together, they created the Pacific Cup, "PAC Cup," competition. Team Vancouver joined the event shortly after the inaugural year. Then in 2008, team Palm Springs joined the competition.
