  Singles Ladder: Match Play Guidelines

Match Format:

  1. Challenges are best 2 out of 3 sets, regular Ad-scoring, 12 point tie-breakers. If the match is played using other formats, the Ladder Chair will not accept the challenge score.

  2. The Ladder Chair recommends that parties agree on a time frame that will facilitate a potential three set match.

  3. Once the match time is scheduled, the USTA 15 minute default rule is in effect.

  4. If a match has to be suspended due to court or weather conditions, players will note the score and resume from that score at the earliest opportunity.

Reporting Scores:

  1. The winner must report the score within 24 hours of the completion of the match via email to the ladder chair, Scott Guiltner, ladder@sdtf.org.

  2. Email is the preferred method, however a phone message may be left at 760-207-7247 if emailing is not an option.

Enforcement & Grievances:

  1. The Ladder Chair is responsible for enforcing the challenge ladder rules as interpreted by the Rules Chair/committee.

  2. Questions and grievances regarding the Grand Prix Ladder rules should first be addressed to the Ladder Chair.

  3. In the event that a satisfactory resolution is not reached with the Ladder Chair, matters of rules disputes should be brought before the Rules Chair/committee for a decision. The Rules Chair can be reached via email at rules@sdtf.org.

  4. The Ladder Chair and Rules Chair will confer on grievances and will agree to a final decision collectively. Their decision is final.
