Team Tennis Spring 2010: Alternates |
 |
|
- All remaining SDTF members not assigned to an official team roster are considered eligible Team Tennis alternates.
- The Ranking Committee will assign alternates a rank relative to the current roster of Team Tennis players and their rankings.
- When required, Team Captains are responsible for securing their own alternates. If a good faith effort has been made to find an alternate from the list of alternates and a replacement still cannot be found then, and only then, should a player from another team be approached to play as an alternate.
- Alternates must have the same, or lower, ranking than the player they are replacing.
- Alternates must play both the singles and doubles match. A Team Captain may not make a substitution with an alternate to play only singles or only doubles.
- Alternates must be reported to the Commissioner by 3:00pm the day before the match via email. Once reported to the Commissioner, the alternate(s) becomes a member of the official line up for that week.
- During the regular season the first alternate for a team is without penalty; for two alternates the team is deducted ½ a point; for three alternates, 1 point deduction; for four alternates, 1½ points deduction; and so on.
- If a line up player is a no show for his/her match, it's up to the discretion of the opposing team captain to decide if a last minute substitution will be allowed. In the event that teams play with a last minute substitution, a 1½ point deduction is automatic in addition to any penalty that may already apply for using the substitute. Captains may NOT agree to waive the last minute substitution penalty.
