Team Tennis Fall 2008: Match Format & Playoffs
  1. Each team plays every other team once during the regular season.

  2. Once the lineups have been turned in, players in position # 1 plays # 1, # 2 plays # 2, etc. Each singles match will consist of a 6-game, no-ad pro-set. Each doubles match will consist of an 8-game, no-ad pro-set. The first players to either 6 (singles) or 8 (doubles) games wins the point(s) for their team.

  3. Regular 12-point tiebreakers are to be played at 5 games all for singles matches and at 7 games all for doubles matches.

  4. Singles matches are worth 1 point per match. Doubles matches are worth 1½ points per match.

  5. The winning team is determined in the following order:
    1. The team with the most points is the winner.
    2. If tied, the team winning the most games is the winner.
    3. If tied, the team winning the most doubles games is the winner.
    4. If tied, the team who used the least number of alternates/substitutes is the winner.
    5. If still tied, the score is officially recorded as a tie.

  6. Team standings will be determined by results in the following order:
    1. overall win-loss record
    2. head to head results
    3. team recording the most points (after penalties)
    4. number of games won

  7. At the end of the regular season (once all teams have played each other), the top 4 teams in the final standings will advance to the playoffs.

  8. Play off teams will be seeded based on the final regular season standings. In the semis the #1 seed plays #4; #2 plays #3. The winners of the semis will play in the final to determine the champion.

  9. The semis and the finals will both be played on the same day. The location will be announced at a later date.
