2011 West Coast Cup Team Captain

In 1986, San Diego hosted the first ever Cal Cup competition which was designed to foster camaraderie among the major California tennis clubs; Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. This competition has been held every year since 1986 and brings together Open and A level players to compete for the Cup. 16 years later, the Pac Cup was started to offer a similar format to B level players. This competition is comprised of 6 Pacific Coast Clubs; Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Los Angeles and San Diego.
Recognizing the need for an event along the lines of Cal and Pac Cup for C level players, Allen Sanchez, the 2011 SDTF President along with Scott Guiltner, the 2011 SDTF Ladder Chair, worked with representatives from our sister clubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Together, they created the West Coast Cup competition.
San Diego is proud to host the West Coast Cup in its inaugural year. The competition will be held at the Balboa Tennis Club over the weekend of August 20 & 21, 2011.
